The Story
Fantastic Antique Victorian 18K Gold Bloodstone Shielded Signet Ring
A lovely dainty piece of Victorian 19th century jewellery circa 1880 featuring a carved bloodstone heliotrope gemstone in the shape of a shield. The bloodstone can be engraved with initials or a family crest, but is equally as interesting left as is. It is set within an 18K yellow gold mount which features weave-work around the bezel and crosshatching to the band.
The bloodstone displays bright red splatters across the mixed green background with high contrast. It is the March birthstone, historically known as the âstone of courageâ, worn by warriors in battle for protection and to stop bleeding wounds.
UK size P 1/2, US size 7 3/4, 1.8g gold
750 (18K) gold tested
