This is a lovely example of an antique Arabian Peninsula tribal silver and glass ring, possibly Oman, late 19th century to early 20th century.
The ring is set with a large, old, polished glass cabochon of a deep red colour. It is carefully set in a triangular-tooth pronged silver mount, which has been intricately worked with a range of traditional wirework and granulation techniques which form various arabesque and geometric patterns.
The ring weighs a substantial 9.14 grams, the band measures 4mm across at the back. The glass stone measures 15mm x 12mm x 5mm.
The silver has a beautiful patina and is extremely silky to touch as it has been worn and treasured for countless years which is what gives it such a special and unique aura! The polished glass cabochon may predate the ring significantly.
