Vintage Sapphire and Diamond Cluster

A gorgeous vintage sapphire and diamond cluster ring.

This Victorian style 18K gold cluster ring is set with a lovely oval sapphire cabochon in a clawed setting. It is bordered by a halo of 12 old cut diamonds with a further 3 diamonds on each shoulder. All of the stones are in open-backed settings which allows light to pass through the stones and enables easy cleaning of the ring.

The shoulders are decorated with openwork trefoil motifs surrounding the diamonds, which lead to a smooth shank.

The ring is in very good overall condition and all the stones are securely set. The diamonds are not the best in terms of colour and clarity, however upon loupe magnification they are good condition with very few abrasions to facet junctions.

The ring weighs 5.31 grams. It is unmarked but tests as 18K gold. The oval cluster measures 17mm x 12mm.

The sapphire cabochon measures 10mm x 5mm x 2mm. The diamonds measure  approx. 2.5mm x 2mm x 1.5mm.
