A fantastic antique French 18K gold diamond necklace, dating from the 19th century. The unusual gold pendant is composed of various sections, each set with rose cut diamonds in rubover settings. The top section features a flower containing six small diamonds, placed above four individual sections, each set with a rose cut diamond in typically French claw settings. The yellow gold belcher-link chain is completed with a spring clasp.
The elegant pendant is designed with both sectioned and interlinked components, designed to move, swish and glisten. The long chain also accommodated the 19th century preference for low necklines, leaving a visual gap to be filled by a statement pendant.
Length of the chain: 16.5“
Pendant length: Another 6cm
Total weight : 8.05g
The largest pear-shaped rose cut diamond measures 1cm x 0.6cm x 0.15cm.
The clasp is stamped with a French ‘tête d’aigle’ hallmark (eagle head) which indicates 18K gold made in Paris.
