Early 19th Century Glass Intaglio Ring

This sweet French gold ring features a fantastic early 19th century sentimental glass intaglio seal engraved with the phrase ‘l’amitié’ (friendship) alongside two doves in a bird bath. This lovely intaglio would have started life as a fob and been used as a stamp on envelopes. The domed brass seal was converted into a ring around the early 20th century (based on the style of the engraved initials) and attached to an 18K yellow gold band with French hallmarks. The foiled glass intaglio displays a gorgeous colour with varying red to orange hues present throughout.

UK size P, US size 7.5

The ring weighs 7.35g, the band carries French control marks for 18K gold, the bezel measures 22mm x 19mm and protrudes approximately 5mm from the band. The interior of the band is engraved with two sets of initials, possibly ‘HB’ and ‘DD’.
