Victorian Orange Agate Intaglio Ring

A gold signet ring set with a Victorian agate intaglio dating to the second half of the 19th century.

The intricately engraved stone depicts the side profile of a bearded man wearing a headscarf. The underside of the stone is of a domed shape. It displays a fantastic and vibrant orange base colour with splashes of deep red and patches of yellow. The intaglio is bezel set in a later 14K gold mount leading to a smooth, plain band.

The ring weighs 4.35g, the oval bezel measures 16mm x 14mm. The band measures 3mm across.

The outer band of the ring is stamped with a French ‘St. Jaques’ control mark to indicate imported 14K gold.
